Our Collective Prayer
We come to the land in humility, as a relative.
We come to the plants and animals as students, knowing they are not resources but teachers, elders, and kin.
We come to the soil in service to the life it cultivates, to the body it nourishes.
We come to the people, to the heart, to the wisdom, and to the connection that the land innately holds with us.
May our hands learn the patience of growing things.
May our food be medicine and may the Spirit of medicine be in all things.
May our work be done with intention, and rooted deep to carry the healing beyond us.
For the seven generations behind us, who planted what we now harvest, and for the seven generations ahead, who will inherit what we plant today, we tend this relationship with care.
We are not separate from the land. We are not above it. We are of it and our prayer is in this remembrance.
-
We are honoring the Indigenous way of life.
Our vision is to come back to Rematriation of the land, providing food sovereignty & Buffalo restoration, to steward the reconnection with people, plants & animals and land.
Our responsibility to the plants and animals of a healthy, nourishing reciprocal relationship, giving security and care and in turn provides an abundance of medicinal, nutrient dense food to the most vulnerable communities and ecosystems. Together, regenerating life back to the soil that holds the seeds to take root, and terrain tended by our Buffalo relatives.
We envision the remembrance of generational knowledge of traditional agricultural processes, returning to the ancestral ways of a nourished harvest while creating confidence to move away from the failing food and health care systems.
For our people to return to our Ancestral ways of being supported by and part of community. Honoring our spiritual and ceremonial practices for balance and harmony. Upholding our Native Elders and Youth, bridging wisdom and lived experience with Heart and courage. Centering our Native life ways of doctoring our mental, emotional and physical wellbeing as we continue to move away from the predatory colonial poison.
-
LAND BACK - The returning of Land back to the original Native tenders. Restoring the reciprocal frameworks that create a foundation of security, abundance, wholeness, togetherness, and the ability to sustain Life.
REMATRIATION - The restoration of matrilineal ways of community based governess, wellness, returning to Mother Earth and the cyclical nature that is both healing and connecting of all beings.
INDIGENOUS SOVEREIGNTY - Liberation from all colonial systems; that we make our own decisions for our people, relatives, land and resources which reach generations forward. To carry forward our Indigenous traditional knowledge and cultural heritage in honor of our ancestors.
COMMUNITY - We carry the responsibility of each other. We center and safeguard our Elders and youth recognizing their wisdom, connection to Spirit, creativity and care. We acknowledge that our community extends beyond human-kin and will always, as it has, include animal-kin, plant-kin, Spirits and the land.
HEALING - We know healing to be non-linear, that it encompasses acknowledging Intergenerational trauma and healing the individual and collective wounds. It will require deprogramming from the colonial spell, addressing the trauma as communal responsibility, to bring forth healing and wholeness through our values of land back, rematriation, Indigenous sovereignty, creation and community.
CREATION - We create and welcome new ways of living based on our original life ways. That we do not give our agency over to the tool of technology but nourish and strengthen our creative spirit. We remember, return to and create with our ancestral arts and expressions of life and Spirit. We cultivate our imagination to create outside of the predatory bondage of our current failing systems.
